Welcome to Harmony Colours by Diane Smith

Born in the 1950s, I love the art of the 1920s. Illustrations in my favorite childhood books, particularly the art of Jessie Willcox Smith, had a big impact on my work. I like the way she used color and line to bring out simple, nostalgic scenes of childhood. I want to recreate that feeling of nostalgia. "The Wizard of Oz" also influenced my drawing, and later I developed an interest in sci-fi fantasy.

I enjoy working with people who have an idea but limited resources; for example, getting married on a shoestring, opening a restaurant and designing a menu, or creating a piece of art that works only for one specific home. I love to brainstorm with clients and zero in on something that’s going to be really cool. It's my way of helping them to succeed, to accomplish "their thing."

I can work in any style and welcome the challenge of tackling diverse projects. My services are perfect for the person who needs guidance but doesn’t want, or can’t afford, to hire a large company. I almost always end up becoming friends with my clients.
